Chelsea Transfer News Today: Signing close as surprise Jacobo Ramon revelation made
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Jacobo Ramon, Maxence Lacroix and Kerim Alajbegovic.
Arsenal enter Ramon race
Arsenal are ready to rival Chelsea in the race to sign Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon, as per the BBC.
The Gunners, like Chelsea, are in the market for a centre-back following William Saliba's back fracture, which is expected to keep him out for several months. Ramon is one option they are considering.
However, they will face the same roadblock that has so far prevented a move to Chelsea: Real Madrid. The Spanish giants effectively control the centre-back's future and, in any case, Como do not wish to sell him this summer.
Lacroix deal close
With a Ramon deal unlikely, Chelsea are set to sign Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix instead, according to Fabrizio Romano.
An agreement on a fee has been reached, with the Blues set to pay €60 million for the France international. Personal terms are in place, meaning that the deal is imminent.
Contrary to other reports, Romano understands that unwanted defender Axel Disasi will not be part of the transaction. Some outlets have suggested that Palace have asked for the Frenchman, but the current plan is that he will not move to South London.
Alajbegovic interest confirmed
Romano has also confirmed that Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina starlet has been re-signed by Leverkusen after he was initially sold to RB Salzburg last summer. However, the Bundesliga side could be open to quickly selling him on for a profit at the right price.
Chelsea face competition from several Serie A clubs, who are strongly pushing to sign the teenager. If he were to move to Stamford Bridge, he would likely have to bide his time for regular first-team opportunities, which could convince him to move to Italy instead.
Chalobah offer made
Additionally, Romano has revealed that Como have made a formal bid for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
The Serie A side have been in talks over a deal for the England defender for several weeks, although they briefly left the discussions because they did not want to get into a bidding war with Inter.
However, the reigning Italian champions baulked at Chelsea's asking price, which is why Como are now back in for Chalobah. Romano reports that their offer consists of a €25m upfront fee and €5m in easily achievable bonuses.
