Should Chelsea accept the bid, they would immediately recoup half their money back for Maxence Lacroix ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge.

BBC Sport reported earlier on Friday that the Blues are set to sign Lacroix after they agreed a €60m (£52m) fee with Crystal Palace for the defender.

The same publication claims France ace Lacroix is expected to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours ahead of signing a contract until 2032.

Widespread reports understand Chelsea are keen to offload defenders Chalobah, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile ahead of Lacroix’s arrival.

Disasi, who spent last season on loan at relegated West Ham United, has interest from Palace, according to The Telegraph.

England international Chalobah had been linked with Inter Milan before Corriere dello Sport reported the Italian giants had withdrew their interest.

Chalobah performed admirably for Chelsea in 2025-26

Chalobah is one of the few Blues players who can hold their head up high after impressing in an otherwise torrid 2025-26 season for the club, who finished 10th in the Premier League and sacked two managers in Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.

The 26-year-old academy graduate was a key fixture in the Chelsea backline last season, making 47 appearances and scoring three goals.

Lacroix meanwhile has excelled for Palace since moving to Selhurst Park from German side Wolfsburg in August 2024.

He has been a near ever-present over the last two seasons, helping the Eagles win the FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Conference League.

Lacroix’s superb performances for Palace led to him being called up for France’s 26-man for the World Cup this summer.

The former Sochaux man turned out three times for Les Bleus including a substitute appearance in the semi-final loss to eventual champions Spain.

Chelsea also keen on new midfielder after Scott bid rejected

In addition to Lacroix, various sources understand Chelsea are also keen to back Xabi Alonso with the signing of a new midfielder.

BBC Sport reported on Tuesday that the west London club have had a €75m (£64m) bid for Alex Scott rejected by Bournemouth.
