Baleba opportunity?

Brighton have joined the race to sign AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, as per the Daily Mail.

The Senegal international looks increasingly likely to be heading to the Premier League this summer as he is fielding widespread interest from England, including from Man Utd.

Brighton are now making a move as they expect offers to arrive for Carlos Baleba, who was Man Utd's top target last summer. He remains an option for the Red Devils, and a Camara move to the South Coast could open the door to the signing of Baleba.

Mount not for sale

The same publication also claims that Man Utd do not wish to sell Mason Mount this summer.

The midfielder has barely played since joining from Chelsea in a deal worth almost €68 million in 2023, as he has repeatedly struggled with injuries. Ruben Amorim was a big fan of Mount, but his game time decreased under Michael Carrick.

It has been rumoured that Amorim is keen to reunite with Mount at AC Milan this summer. However, despite his struggles at Old Trafford, Man Utd do not want to lose the former England international.

Ugarte injury won't affect Fernandes pursuit

Man Utd remain determined to revamp their midfield despite Manuel Ugarte's serious injury, The Athletic understands.

The Uruguay international suffered ligament damage in his knee at the World Cup and is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Ugarte had been earmarked as a prime candidate to be sold this summer, but this will not materialise now.

However, Man Utd's plans to sign at least one more midfielder remain unchanged despite not being able to raise funds with the sale of Ugarte. Instead, the Red Devils could postpone the signing of a new left-winger until next year.

That midfielder, however, will not be top target Mateus Fernandes because Tottenham have agreed an €98m package to sign him from West Ham.

Rashford to stay?

The decision not to sign a left-winger is linked to the future of Marcus Rashford, whose chances of staying at Man Utd are steadily increasing, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The England star will formally return to Man Utd after the World Cup following Barcelona's decision not to exercise their purchase option in his loan deal. Previously, a sale of Rashford was thought to be pretty much guaranteed this summer.

However, this is no longer the case. Positive discussions with his camp have taken place, and there is an openness from all parties to potentially reintegrate the forward into the Man Utd squad in pre-season. The Red Devils will continue to listen to offers, but Rashford could stay put.
