Man Utd submit offer to €30m World Cup star as talks confirmed
Manchester United have reportedly submitted a contract offer to Netherlands winger Crysencio Summerville and they have now opened talks with West Ham United over a summer deal.
The 24-year-old was one of West Ham’s standout performers last season and he is expected to depart the club before the end of the transfer window following their relegation down to the Championship for the first time since 2011.
Summerville registered seven goal contributions in 31 Premier League matches last term and he scored his first international goal during the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw versus Japan in their opening fixture of the 2026 World Cup on Sunday.
The West Ham winger was named ahead of fellow forwards Memphis Depay and Noa Lang in the starting XI by Ronald Koeman and he rewarded his manager with an excellent left-footed strike in the 64th minute, which put Netherlands 2-1 up following Virgil van Dijk’s opener.
They were eventually pegged back by a late Daichi Kamada goal, but Summerville caught the eye on the right flank and Nicolo Schira reports that Man Utd have now opened talks with West Ham over a possible summer transfer.
The Italian transfer reporter claims that Summerville has been offered a five-year contract by the Man Utd hierarchy, with an option for a further 12 months included, and negotiations between the two clubs are expected to ramp up over the coming weeks.
It’s understood that Michael Carrick’s side want to sign a new left winger this summer, with Marcus Rashford expected to be sold on a permanent deal when he returns to the club following his loan spell at Barcelona, and Summerville has been earmarked as a potential signing.
The Dutchman has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €31 million and he is considered as an alternative option to fellow transfer targets Iliman Ndiaye and Rafael Leao, who have also been heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch in recent weeks.
Analysis: Should Man Utd sign Crysencio Summerville?
If Man Utd want to sign a game-changing left winger capable of firing them to the title, then Summerville arguably isn’t the right signing. But, considering a large chunk of their transfer budget will be spent on central midfielders, the Dutchman could be a shrewd pick-up.
He is an excellent dribbler and his form during the back-end of the season suggests he could be a great option for Man Utd in attack.
With Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha both more than capable of playing on the left flank, Man Utd arguably don’t need to allocate a huge sum of money for a new winger, and Summerville could therefore be a smart addition if they are able to agree a reasonable fee with West Ham.
