Liverpool receive official Michael Olise transfer message
Bayern director Max Eberl has sent a clear message to Liverpool and Real Madrid regarding the future of Michael Olise.
The France international is the name on everyone's lips at present, having put in a remarkable shift against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday. Olise was unplayable as Bayern ran out 2-1 victors.
This performance was nothing out of the ordinary for the 24-year-old, however. He has been in stunning form all season, racking up 16 goals and 29 assists so far this term.
If he keeps going on his current trajectory, he will set a new assists record for Europe's top-five leagues before the season is out. Unsurprisingly, then, everyone wants a piece of the tricky winger.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have both been heavily linked with a move for the Frenchman in recent weeks. The former are looking for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, while the latter reportedly view Olise as their "new Gareth Bale."
Bayern send clear Olise message
Olise's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has skyrocketed to €141 million over the course of this season, illustrating that signing him would likely require a record fee from Liverpool (current record €145m) and Real Madrid (current record €127m).
Indeed, it has been claimed that Los Blancos are ready to shell out as much as €165m to land Olise this summer. Bayern, however, are having none of it. Honorary president Uli Hoeness previously said that he wouldn't sell even for €200m.
This has now been echoed by director Max Eberl, who has emphatically dismissed any prospect of the club's star winger departing this summer. "No, quite simply no," Eberl said when asked by Sky Germany if there was a chance of selling Olise.
"We have a long-term project. Michael is enjoying himself. You can see how well this team is playing and how successful they can be. When we're playing like this, there is no chance of a move."
Olise eager to improve
Eberl was also asked about Olise's character and his performances this season. "Michael wants to talk about football. Michael wants to be told how he can improve," he explained. "It's in his nature. He may seem a bit blasé to the outside, but behind the scenes, he is a consummate professional.
"We can see how he is developing. We saw huge potential in him when we signed him, as he already showed his quality in the Premier League. He hasn't just lived up to expectations in his time at Bayern but even exceeded them.
"He is a joy to watch, and the most intriguing aspect is that he is rarely satisfied with himself. When I ask him after three assists and two goals, 'Michael, how would you assess your performance?' He'll say, 'Yeah, it was alright.'
"That says it all. He is so driven. He definitely has the potential to become one of the best players in the world. If I had to give my vote in the Ballon d'Or, he would get it."
