Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has delivered several important updates from the market, including the latest on the futures of Jadon Sancho and Michael Olise, as well as an important decision at Liverpool.

Spalletti agrees two-year Juventus deal

Romano kicked off by confirming that Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti is close to signing a new contract with Juventus.

He told his YouTube channel: “There is now an agreement in principle reached between Juventus and Spalletti over a new contract.

“It will be signed very soon and it will run until June 2028. So everything is done, everything is completed between Spalletti and Juventus.

“This is also important because it will help Juventus manage all the internal discussions and negotiations around signings. What happens with Dusan Vlahovic? Will he renew or leave on a free? And then Juventus are interested in several free agents. For example, Leon Goretzka and, for sure, Bernardo Silva, who has many suitors around the world.

“So it will be interesting to see what Juventus do with Spalletti staying as head coach for two more seasons.”

Ibrahima Konate ‘close’ to new Liverpool contract

Liverpool finally appear to have won their battle to have Ibrahima Konate to sign a new contract with the club. Previously, it appeared that Real Madrid might snap up the France star on a free transfer in July.

“After long negotiations and many months of contact, what I can tell you today is that the talks between Liverpool, Konate, and his camp are moving to the final stages. The agreement is getting closer. It is almost there, but it is not done yet,” Romano said.

“We still have to wait before saying it is finished, because with free agents and very important players like Konate, everything can change very quickly. There is no club-to-club negotiation needed in this case, so we have to be careful until the very end.

“But the conversations are moving very well. The salary is almost agreed, the length of the contract is being discussed, and there are still some clauses to clarify. So Liverpool and Konate are very close to a new deal.

“Despite reports about Real Madrid being back in the race, and despite stories saying Konate wanted to go elsewhere, at the moment Liverpool are the club leading the race to keep him.”

Slot facing the sack?

Sticking with Liverpool, Romano addressed the situation of manager Arne Slot, who came under more pressure after the 2-0 loss against PSG on Wednesday.

“Let me be clear. My information remains the same,” Romano said. “At the end of the season, Liverpool’s management and ownership will sit down together for an end-of-season review. They will discuss the summer strategy, signings, exits, and also the manager’s situation.

“That review will happen at the end of the season, not now, not next week, not in two weeks. During this season, even in the difficult moments, Liverpool never told Slot anything about a deadline or a lack of confidence. The message has always been support and trust.

“So nothing is changing right now. Liverpool have been backing the manager. Then, after the season, they will assess everything.”

Jadon Sancho set for third Dortmund spell?

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, on loan at Aston Villa, is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer when his contract expires. Borussia Dortmund want him back at the club for a third time, Romano confirmed.

“Dortmund are working on a deal to bring Sancho back to the club,” he said.

“For Manchester United, the Sancho chapter is over. He will leave on a free at the end of the season. United had an option to extend his contract for one more year, but they decided not to trigger it. They did not want to continue paying his big salary, so they accepted the end of the deal.

“Now Sancho, as a free agent, is attracting interest from Italy and from Dortmund. It would be the third time in black and yellow for him. There is an ongoing conversation between the club and Sancho, so let’s see how it goes. But he is definitely a target for Dortmund, depending on the financial terms.”

Michael Olise’s future

The sensational form of Michael Olise at Bayern Munich has prompted speculation that he could leave for Real Madrid or Liverpool this summer.

“There are many reports about a possible bid being prepared, but my information remains that Bayern have absolutely no intention of sitting at the table and negotiating an exit this summer,” Romano confirmed on the France international.

“Not at all. Bayern do not want to discuss a sale, do not want to negotiate, and are not interested in a record fee. They are very calm about the situation. Bayern believe Olise will be their player for a long time.

“They are super happy with him, not just with the performances, which we can all see, but with his attitude, his professionalism, and the fact that he never creates problems. So Bayern are very happy.

“What happens in three, four, or five years, nobody can predict today. But what we can say now is that Bayern are not imagining an exit for Michael Olise this summer. Even Uli Hoeness made it clear that they would not even consider 200 million euros for him. That tells you everything.”
