Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Two Man Utd signings, Rodri to Real Madrid, Anderson latest
Fabrizio Romano has provided some massive updates on the biggest transfer stories from around Europe, including the latest on Rodri, Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali.
Vicario set for Spurs exit
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Guglielmo Vicario is all but guaranteed to leave Tottenham this summer.
"Guglielmo Vicario, expected to leave Tottenham in the summer, regardless of what's going to happen in the final games of the season. So, whether Tottenham stay in the Premier League or get relegated to the Championship, Vicario is still expected to leave the club at the end of the current season.
"The feeling is that Vicario is now ready to return to Italy. And I can tell you that talks already took place between Vicario's camp and Inter. Very positive negotiations on the contract. Vicario is opening doors over a move to Inter with Yann Sommer, who could either leave the club or stay as backup goalkeeper.
"For Vicario, the plan is clear. Inter are working on this deal. It's not done. It's not decided. There is still nothing agreed or done club-to-club, so we have to see if Inter and Tottenham will be able to reach an agreement. But with the player camp, the conversations have been positive.
"Inter director Piero Ausilio was in London a few weeks ago to open the conversation. Inter are on it. Inter want Vicario as one of their priority targets. It's not the only one for the goalkeeper position, but it's the main target."
Man City confident of keeping Rodri
Romano then addressed the ongoing speculation linking Man City midfielder Rodri with Real Madrid.
"On one side there is Man City already offering Rodri a new long contract. What Man City are offering is a very important salary, from what I'm told, and a deal that, according to the club, could be really satisfying for a player like Rodri.
"On the other side, the player has to decide personally - family, projects, money - what he wants to do, go back to Spain or continue at Man City. Now it's also on Rodri, his family, his camp, to decide what's next. Man City did their best effort, Man City's contract proposal is on the table.
"According to my information, Man City would not accept a small fee like €10, €15, €20 million for Rodri this summer. Even if Rodri decides not to sign a new contract at Man City, Man City would ask for important money.
"They prefer keeping Rodri one more season rather than letting him go for €10, €15, €20m. This is the strategy at City. New contract or you can leave on a free in summer 2027. If you want to leave this summer, obviously, it has to be for important money.
"But Man Man City feel they can convince Rodri. Man City feel they have a chance to convince Rodri. Real Madrid's position - according to my information, Rodri has some fans in the Real Madrid management, for sure. He's one of the names being discussed, for sure.
"It's not casual if Pep Guardiola is going to talk in public and say there are no players who can reject Real Madrid. Real Madrid's presence in this story is for sure confirmed. But what I can tell you is that Real Madrid already decided internally that they don't want to go crazy in terms of money for signing Rodri this summer."
Man Utd planning two midfield signings
Lastly, Romano corroborated that Man Utd are planning to sign two midfielders this summer.
"My information today is that Man Utd are oriented to go for two midfielders. Casemiro is leaving, we know that, while Kobbie Mainoo is staying with a new contract. According to my information, Manuel Ugarte could also leave Man Utd in the summer transfer window.
"Some movements have already started to find a solution for Ugarte. So you can imagine, with Casemiro leaving, with Ugarte leaving, with Man Utd probably playing Champions League football, for sure playing European football, it means that Man Utd need two more midfielders.
"About the situation of Sandro Tonali, about the situation of Elliot Anderson. Nothing has changed so far. Tonali remains on Man Utd's shortlist, depending on the price, depending on the negotiations with Newcastle, depending on other clubs, because Tonali is also appreciated by Man City and Arsenal.
"And then on Anderson, I keep telling you that Man City are on it. Man City started negotiations with this camp. Man City have started working on a deal to sign Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
"But still nothing advanced club-to-club because Man City want to respect Nottingham Forest. They are in a relegation battle. Obviously, Anderson is a crucial player for Nottingham Forest. Now, it's not the time to negotiate a transfer fee.
"We have to see at the end of the season whether Nottingham Forest are going to be in the Championship, in the Premier League. And it is going to be important to understand the fee, the pricing and how the negotiation will be with the Marinakis family.
"Man Utd also appreciate the player, we know that. So it's Man City, Man Utd on Anderson, with City already pushing now, and then Tonali and more names on the shortlist at Man Utd. It could be a very busy summer at Old Trafford regarding midfielders."
