Man Utd Transfer News Today: Vinicius Jr decision confirmed ahead of summer overhaul
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Vinicius Junior and Elliot Anderson.
Vinicius Jr to sign new contract
Vinicius Jr has broken his silence over his Real Madrid contract negotiations after it was reported that Man Utd had been offered the chance to sign him this summer.
Speaking ahead of the club’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, he said: “I hope I can stay here for a long time. I still have a year left on my contract, and we’re all very calm because I have the president’s confidence. Everyone who speaks with me every day knows exactly what we want,” he said.
“When the time is right, we’ll work on the renewal so I can keep playing here, because this is the club of my dreams. Every day I come here, I’m happy, and I want to stay for many more years.”
A move for Vinicius seemed fairly improbable anyway, however Man Utd are now extremely unlikely to sign the Brazil superstar this summer.
Overhaul plotted to fund Elliot Anderson deal
Man Utd will build their summer transfer plans around an ambitious bid to beat Manchester City to the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Despite Forest’s Premier League struggles this season, Anderson has been earmarked as a potential €100 million arrival in Manchester, where both United and City are desperate to land the England man.
In fact, Man Utd are so eager to sign Anderson that they are ready to allow eight players to leave in order to fund a deal for the star, as per The Sun.
It is claimed that Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford will be sold to help raise funds for a deal, while United will free up their wage bill via the Bosman exits of Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
Manuel Ugarte set to leave
Man Utd officials have reportedly reached an agreement to listen to offers for Manuel Ugarte this summer.
The Uruguay international was signed by the Red Devils back in 2024, during Erik ten Hag’s final summer transfer window at the club, but he has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth throughout his stint at Old Trafford.
Galatasaray were eager to secure his signature in January and the Turkish Super Lig giants are now “pushing hard” to finalise a deal ahead of this summer, as per TEAMtalk.
It’s reported that Man Utd are open to offloading the 24-year-old as they look to oversee a midfield rebuild, while Ugarte himself is keen to depart Old Trafford in search of more regular football.
Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid wanted
Man Utd are among the Premier League clubs to have made "contact" with Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kerim Alajbegovic.
The 18-year-old was sold to RB Salzburg last summer, but Leverkusen have already decided to trigger their buy-back clause before the campaign has finished, such has been Alajbegovic's impact.
However, while Leverkusen will bring him back this summer, it is unclear if Alajbegovic will play for the Bundesliga side next season as Chelsea and Man Utd are both in "contact" over a potential summer move, according to Reprezentacija.
The Bosnian outlet claims that a transfer north of €30 million is "in the works," and that his English suitors want to complete a deal for the 18-year-old winger "as soon as possible."
Amadou Onana latest
Aston Villa could be willing to sell Amadou Onana on a permanent deal if they receive a “huge offer” during the 2026 summer transfer window.
That is according to Football Insider, who report that Unai Emery’s side are reluctant to offload any of their current stars but could be forced into deals this summer.
Onana was wanted by Man Utd during his time at Everton and the Red Devils have reportedly rekindled their interest in the Belgium midfielder amid their pursuit of a replacement for Casemiro.
