The Blues are set to bring a new central defender to the club this summer, amid interest in the likes of Murillo (Nottingham Forest), Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton) and Jan Paul van Hecke (Brighton & Hove Albion), while they want to sign a new forward too, with Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers among their top targets.

In addition, Chelsea are also eager to bolster their options in central midfield, despite the fact that Enzo Fernandez’s agent has claimed that his client’s feud with the club has been resolved.

Multiple reports have confirmed that Chelsea have already agreed personal terms on a six-year contract with Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco ahead of this summer, however they remain in the market for another option.

Revealed: Chelsea want to sign Angelo Stiller

Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson have both been earmarked as possible signings by the Blues hierarchy, while they have now moved into the lead in the race to sign the aforementioned Stiller, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

It’s claimed that Chelsea have regularly sent scouts to watch the 25-year-old in action in the Bundesliga this term and they are ready to offer him an annual salary of €9 million to move to Stamford Bridge during the upcoming summer window.

Stiller currently has a €40m release clause included in his Stuttgart contract, but the German side have the option to remove this if they pay him €2m and they are then set to demand a fee of at least €50m to sanction a sale this summer.

Real Madrid have also been linked with the Germany international in recent months, while TEAMtalk state that Manchester United have rekindled their interest in him as they chase at least one new central midfielder.

However, Fichajes report that Chelsea have emerged as the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old this summer.

If Chelsea win the race to sign Stiller, he will likely be in direct competition with Moises Caicedo, Andrey Santos, Romeo Lavia, Reece James, Dario Essugo, Fernandez and Barco for game time at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues set to boast a stacked midfield roster next season.

Despite that competition for places, data analytics experts SciSports believe that Stiller is currently a better player than Santos, Lavia, Essugo and Barco, suggesting that he could play a pivotal role for Rosenior if Chelsea win the race for his signature.
