Bruno Fernandes has yet to formally commit his future to Manchester United, but the Portuguese international playmaker has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is prepared to stay at Old Trafford in the summer.

The 31-year-old has been regularly linked with a move away from the club when the season is over. He has a contract that expires in June 2027, so if United are planning to receive a substantial fee for the former Sporting CP man, a sale is likely at this juncture.

Interest primarily comes from the Saudi Pro League, where Bruno has come close to moving on at least two previous occasions.

Bruno Fernandes: I feel part of Manchester

Speaking to Men In Blazers, Bruno has suggested that he is prepared to turn down another offer to stay in Manchester.

He revealed: “Obviously, when you're so long in a place, you kind of feel part of it. And obviously, I'm very proud of my nation and I love my country and I love to be there. But I feel at home at Manchester.

“My kids feel at home here. It's wonderful for me to be in a place where my kids can enjoy so much and feel so much at home as they do in Manchester. I felt Mancunian until I heard my kids speaking English and having the accent. And I understand that I'm not as Mancunian as they are!”

Bruno Fernandes on Harry Maguire: People like fresh meat

Bruno also issued a defence of Harry Maguire, who has signed a new contract with the Red Devils despite often being the brunt of criticism.

“Harry has been here a long time,” he said. “People like fresh meat. When you have the same meat for too long, you start wanting a new one. And football is the same. You have the same players and people want to change them. And then when you change them and it doesn't work out, you want them back. It's always like that.

“People want fresh meat, they want new names, they want excitement, they want to see different people with a shirt. And that's normal. Harry has coped very well with that.”

Bruno stressed the impact that Maguire has behind the scenes and noted that this will be particularly important when the club’s new manager is appointed.

“He's been very important in many moments with us and he's well deserved this recognition from the club because he's also very important into the team, in the dressing room,” he said.

“Losing someone with his experience and with his voice for a season where things will change… you still need some pillars to stay and to show what we have to make different to be more successful.”

Man Utd’s next assignment is a Premier League clash with Leeds on Monday, which will be followed by a clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as Bruno attempts to guide his side back into the Champions League.
