Cole Palmer 'primed' to leave Chelsea this summer
Cole Palmer is reportedly “primed” to leave Chelsea this summer after becoming “disillusioned” with life at Stamford Bridge.
The England international has endured an injury-hit campaign in west London and he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United amid their pursuit of a long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes.
FootballTransfers understands that Palmer is on Man Utd’s transfer shortlist ahead of the summer window, and The Sun have now claimed that a Chelsea exit could be on the cards, with the 23-year-old no longer satisfied at the club.
Enzo Fernandez has already hinted that he could depart Stamford Bridge this summer and Palmer could reportedly follow suit, with Bayern Munich, Man Utd and Real Madrid all interested in the attacking midfielder, who is valued at just over €170 million.
It’s reported that Palmer is frustrated by a change in Chelsea’s tactics this season, while he misses playing alongside Nicolas Jackson, who is currently on loan at Bayern.
The England superstar is open to joining Man Utd this summer, but Chelsea consider him to be one of their “untouchable” players, and the Red Devils are expected to prioritise signing a new central midfielder and left winger ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Cole Palmer to Man Utd verdict
When asked if Palmer would be a good signing for Man Utd, former England star Chris Waddle told FootballTransfers: “Cole Palmer has spells where he looks the part, where he looks the man. But, he’s not been very consistent over the last two or three months.
“The team's not playing very consistently, Chelsea are very up and down, and that's shown in his form as well. It's been up and down.
“I like Cole Palmer and Man Utd would be a great fit. I think he's a Man Utd fan so I'm sure he'd like to go back to Manchester. It looks like a great fit for him, but you've got Bruno Fernandes and you've got Matheus Cunha, so will he get stuck in a position where you think he's not getting the best out of him?
“He's a very talented footballer. I like watching him play, but he seems to have come off the boil and for England, it looks like he's going to have to come off the bench. I can see why Man Utd are interested because we know he has got the ability, but it's just getting that consistency.”
Palmer has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 20 Premier League appearances so far this season, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €96.7m.
