Arsenal Transfer News Today: 'Crazy' Alvarez boost as Romano guarantees signing
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Julian Alvarez, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Max Dowman.
Alvarez's "crazy" clause
Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has a "crazy" €500 million release clause in his contract, which is a boon for Arsenal, Fichajes claims.
No club will trigger this clause, so the race to sign the Argentina international will be won by whichever club is prepared to put the most money on the table in the open market.
This puts Arsenal in a strong position. Barcelona are also determined to sign Alvarez, but they are in no position to match Atletico Madrid's asking price, which is likely to be north of €100m this summer.
Romano expects Arsenal signing
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that he expects Arsenal to sign an attacker this summer while discussing the future of PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Georgia international in recent weeks, but Romano reiterates that PSG have no intention of listening to offers for their star attacker. Nevertheless, he is convinced that Arsenal will make an offensive signing.
"There have been rumours again about Arsenal being interested," Romano said. "But my understanding is crystal clear: PSG have no intention to open talks for Kvaratskhelia this summer.
"They love him - his attitude, professionalism, consistency. And remember, he joined from Napoli only 14 months ago, in January 2025. So PSG want to enjoy him much longer.
"Of course, Arsenal are expected to strengthen up front - maybe a striker, maybe a winger - but not Kvaratskhelia. Nothing concrete between Arsenal and PSG on this one."
Ceballos on the market
Former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos has seen the writing on the wall and will leave Real Madrid this summer, as per MARCA.
The Spain international has primarily been a benchwarmer since returning from his loan in 2021, but he repeatedly decided to stay and even signed a contract extension in 2023.
However, with a year left on his deal, the 29-year-old is now ready to quit. Could a return to Arsenal become a possibility? It is too early to say, but Ceballos made 60 appearances under Mikel Arteta and put in some encouraging performances during his time in North London.
Dowman urged to leave
Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman has been advised to leave the club "as soon as possible" by talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham.
He believes that the 16-year-old should look at Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri - both of whom have seen their development stunted after a breakout campaign last season - and draw the right conclusions.
"Dowman can look at Nwaneri being told he’s not going to get a game at 10, they’d rather spend big on [Eberechi] Eze or play [Kai] Havertz there, which is ridiculous," Durham thundered.
"Look at Lewis-Skelly going backwards in his career. He even got into the England team, and Arteta just discarded him, and he’s not going to go to the World Cup.
"Max Dowman don’t follow their path. Forget who your family supports. That’s irrelevant now. Think about your career, go find a stage your talents deserve."
