Rangers close in on first summer signing: 'Deal expected shortly'
Rangers are on the verge of signing Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, according to a report.
The Gers had a frantic Deadline Day on Monday despite only completing one signing. Negotiations with Hansa Rostock for striker Ryan Naderi went down to the wire, but they ultimately concluded with all parties satisfied.
Danny Rohl landed his man, Naderi got the transfer he had been pushing for since last week and Rostock, although his exit will sting given that they are fighting for promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, received a 3. Liga-record €6 million fee for the 22-year-old.
However, Rangers don't appear to be resting on their laurels. Planning for the summer is already in full swing, and Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Ibrox giants are closing in on their first arrival of the next window.
It is asserted that Rangers are on the verge of completing the signing of Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, who was frequently linked with a move to Glasgow during the January window.
Rangers to sign Hjerto-Dahl
The Gers ultimately did not manage to bring him in immediately, but the report states that they are certain to welcome him in the summer. The saga surrounding the 20-year-old "has come to an end" because Rangers are "ready to close the deal."
Various Serie A clubs and Turkish giants Besiktas also showed an interest in the midfielder. Still, the latter "hesitated" over signing him, which has allowed Rangers to make significant progress in talks with the player.
It is claimed that the youngster has accepted a proposal that will see him earn €1m net annually, but the report does not disclose how much Tromso will receive. Hjerto-Dahl is still under contract in Norway until December 2027.
Unless the deal is officially announced, though, Besiktas will continue to pose a palpable threat, at least until the end of the week. That is because the Turkish window remains open until Friday, so the Istanbul outfit could still try to bring him in right away.
