Chelsea set sights on €150m double deal
Chelsea reportedly remain interested in signing Premier League duo Morgan Rogers and Ethan Nwaneri in 2026.
The Blues are currently searching for a new head coach following the departure of Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day, but their recruitment team is still scouring world football for potential new signings.
Chelsea have been linked with a plethora of players in recent months, however rumours suggest they are unlikely to land significant reinforcements in January and are instead expected to prioritise player sales this month.
‘Bomb Squad’ members Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi could both depart Stamford Bridge on permanent deals before the end of the winter window, while academy starlet Tyrique George will also be allowed to leave after falling down the pecking order.
Although Chelsea are expected to wait until the summer window to bring in meaningful additions, they have set their sights on signing both Rogers and Nwaneri, as per CaughtOffside.
Chelsea chase Morgan Rogers and Ethan Nwaneri
Rogers, 23, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best players since his arrival at Aston Villa in January 2024 and he has been on Chelsea’s transfer radar for the best part of a year.
However, his current deal with Unai Emery’s side isn’t due to expire until 2031 and it’s understood that a fee in excess of €100 million may be needed to prise him away from Villa Park.
Despite this, Chelsea view him as a top transfer target and they are keeping close tabs on his situation ahead of a possible bid later this year.
Meanwhile, the Blues are also interested in landing Nwaneri, who has been tipped to leave Arsenal amid his lack of game time in recent months.
The England U21 international is yet to start a Premier League match this season and he hasn’t even featured in the competition since a two-minute cameo versus Tottenham Hotspur on 23 November.
Mikel Arteta has downplayed the possibility of a January exit and Arsenal have no intention of selling the 18-year-old, but Chelsea are reportedly “really keen” on securing his signature.
Nwaneri’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at just shy of €50m, although this has sharply fallen from a peak of €74.7m due to his lack of first-team action this term.
