The 2025 January transfer window is edging ever closer and plans are beginning to be finalised across world football.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours from the day, including the latest on Bukayo Saka and Rafael Leao.

Bukayo Saka contract update

Bukayo Saka has verbally agreed to continue negotiations on a new contract with Arsenal in the latest piece of good news for the Premier League leaders.

FootballTransfers exclusively reported in September that Saka is in line to receive a substantial pay increase when his new deal is signed, and that is coming close to realisation, according to a report from Sky Sport Switzerland.

A new agreement for the 24-year-old has long been earmarked as a “priority” for the Gunners’ hierarchy, who want to build their future around the England winger.

Chelsea prepare €120m bid

Chelsea are preparing to submit a €120 million offer for long-term Arsenal target Rafael Leao, according to a blockbuster report in Spain.

The AC Milan forward has been linked with a San Siro exit for several years and recent rumours have speculated that he is ready to leave the club in order to test himself in the Premier League.

Spanish publication Fichajes now claim that Chelsea are willing to submit a €120m offer to sign Leao next year, with Enzo Maresca eager to finalise a deal.

William Saliba truth

Arsenal defender William Saliba has admitted that interest from Real Madrid is “always tempting” following his decision to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

During an interview with Telefoot, Saliba was asked about Real Madrid’s approach this summer and whether or not he was open to joining the club.

“Of course, it's always tempting when a club like that shows interest,” Saliba admitted. “But for me, I wanted to stay at Arsenal and win trophies before thinking about anything else.”

Celtic exit?

Celtic face the prospect of losing winger Seb Tounekti just months after his arrival, with the Tunisia international winger being tracked by at least one Premier League club.

The Hoops’ summer transfer window left much to be desired, but Tounekti has brought a dash of flair to a side that otherwise has been found wanting in imagination and creativity.

However, Maghreb Foot reports that Leeds United are “closely monitoring” the winger, having been impressed by his speed, technical qualities and ability to fashion opportunities for others.

Chelsea transfer discount

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have both been informed that FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa will be available for €80 million next summer, according to reports in Portugal.

The Spain international, 21, has been heavily linked with a 2026 exit and it has now been revealed that Porto are open to sanctioning a sale if their asking price is met.

Aghehowa’s current contract at Porto, which is due to expire in 2029, includes a €100m release clause, however Portugal publication Correio de Manha (via Metro) claim that a fee of €80m will be enough to secure his signature next year.
