Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Man Utd PLANS, Guehi GUARANTEE, Caicedo to JOIN Real Madrid?
The transfer window may be closed, but expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped a major update on several key developments, including the latest on Manchester United, Marc Guehi and Moises Caicedo.
Man Utd’s transfer plans
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a number of plans ahead of the January transfer window and Romano has confirmed that Ruben Amorim will be backed in the market if a suitable opportunity arises.
“Ruben Amorim sends clear indications in public and in private for Manchester United in the January transfer window,” Romano told his YouTube channel. “In private, the conversations have started between Amorim, the board, and the management of Man Utd ahead of the January window.
“I told you about the midfielder. I told you that Man Utd are looking for that position. But just in general, Amorim and the management of Man Utd are talking about the January window, the opportunities, and what to do with the players who want to play more: Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee.
“For Zirkzee, West Ham and also Roma have called in recent weeks. So, this will be an opportunity for several clubs, and we have to see what Man Utd want to do, if they want to let him go or not.”
Romano added: “But Amorim sends a clear message also in public talking about January. First of all, he says the window will be open and there is the possibility they will do something. So, not closing the doors to the opportunity to bring in new players, and it’s already an update for Man Utd. But he also says, ‘I don’t want players for the short-term.’
“Amorim is not bringing in a player for just a few months. A player will join Man Utd only if they believe the player could be an option for the long-term. They don’t want to add a player just in terms of numbers, also because Man Utd have one competition this season plus the FA Cup incoming, and they want to focus on the Premier League.
“They already have several players. So, if someone joins in January, it will be a player who Man Utd can trust for the present but also for the future.”
Moises Caicedo update
Meanwhile, Romano has confirmed that Moises Caicedo will not be sold by Chelsea amid interest from Real Madrid.
“Moises Caicedo is a fantastic player and Chelsea love him,” the transfer expert revealed. “A few weeks ago, Caicedo changed his agents, and so there was some sort of story around that. But I can guarantee you that despite all the stories saying appreciation from Real Madrid, there is nothing really concrete at this stage. Moises is fully focused on Chelsea.
“Chelsea started some conversations in August, but at very early stages, with the agents of Caicedo over a new contract. Then he decided to change his agents, so now he has different people and they have to restart the conversation.
“It’s not a situation of urgency - Caicedo signed a very long contract two years ago on a very big salary. So, Caicedo is not a player who is in a difficult situation in terms of contract. He’s a player who is on a very good, very long contract. So, Chelsea are not in a rush.
“Caicedo is very happy at the club, and this is the mutual feeling between Moises and Chelsea.”
Alphonso Davies to leave Bayern Munich?
Alphonso Davies has been plagued by injury issues over the past few years, but several clubs are interested in acquiring his services as he edges closer to the end of his Bayern contract.
Romano admitted: “Keep an eye on the situation of Alphonso Davies, because the director of Bayern, Max Eberl, today said, ‘We want to do everything possible to extend his contract,’ and he’s being honest in saying that because Bayern are talking with the agents of Davies. There is a negotiation, there is a conversation. Bayern will meet again with the agents.
“But for Davies, there are several clubs starting to call - from the Premier League, from La Liga, but also from France. Paris Saint-Germain are following the situation of Davies. He could be one of the options being monitored by PSG, but only in case he doesn’t extend his contract at Bayern.
“If he’s available on a free in the summer transfer window, PSG will be, together with Premier League and La Liga clubs, attentive to the situation. So keep an eye on Davies, because Bayern are trying, but if he doesn’t extend, there are several opportunities, including PSG.”
Marc Guehi latest
Finally, Romano clarified the latest state of play regarding Marc Guehi’s future at Crystal Palace.
“For Marc Guehi, we have new rumours about Inter, but for Italian clubs it will be very difficult to go for Marc,” Romano said.
“From what I’m told, there are English clubs very interested - Liverpool and others - there are also top Spanish clubs attentive to the situation. Guehi will leave Crystal Palace; this is for sure, 100% guaranteed.
“Bayern are also there. If Davies leaves Bayern on a free, Guehi is one of the players who are part of the list at Bayern, in terms of players they want to try to add.
“There’s already been contact with people close to the player, but Guehi will not decide now. He has several possibilities again in England, in Spain, and in Germany. So Guehi will take his time to decide the best option. But for sure, Marc will be one to watch, and this could be a domino between Guehi and Upamecano. So let’s follow the situation, let’s keep following the situation, and we will understand more.”
