Man Utd want 'Europe's most wanted striker' to replace Zirkzee
Manchester United are lining up a move for Levante sensation Karl Etta Eyong, who is considered Europe's most wanted striker right now.
Etta Eyong has made a spectacular start to the season in Spain. He began the campaign with Villarreal, scoring one in three games before completing a €3 million switch to Levante, where he has taken his game to a new level.
Having previously been a largely unheralded striker, the 21-year-old Cameroon international has scored five goals in seven games with his new club, even netting against Real Madrid.
This form has seen to virtually every big club in Europe being linked with signing him, including Man Utd.
Fichajes reports that Man Utd see Eyong as the ideal replacement for Joshua Zirkzee, if the Dutchman leaves in January.
Eyong has a release clause of €40 million that United will have to pay.
Zirkzee to leave Man Utd
As for Zirkzee, he is almost certain to leave United, either on loan or permanently, during the January transfer window.
United have not yet given the final green light for Zirkzee to leave but if he continues to play so little then a move seems likely.
Zirkzee has played just 90 minutes of football for Man Utd this season and wants to leave in order to advance his career and to give him a chance of going to the World Cup with Netherlands next summer.
West Ham have been considered the favourites to sign Zirkzee with Matteo Moretto.
Roma and Como have also been heavily linked with bringing Zirkzee back to Serie A.
Zirkzee joined Man Utd in the summer of 2024 in a €42.5 million move from Bologna.
The 23-year-old Zirkzee was one of the standout players in Serie A in the 2023-24 season, leading the club to historic qualification to the Champions League.
He was often compared to former Milan and Barcelona star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, he has struggled to show that form at Man Utd and has been criticised for a lack of goal threat.
In total, Zirkzee has made 54 appearances for Utd and scored seven goals.
