The 15-year-old, who recently became the youngest player in Champions League history, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in world football and he has already established himself as a first-team player in north London.

Dowman has made five senior appearances for Arsenal so far this season, while he has been included in Mikel Arteta’s matchday squad on 12 separate occasions since the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign.

The England U19 international has unsurprisingly attracted interest from across the globe following his impressive feats in Arsenal’s academy, with FootballTransfers exclusively reporting that Barcelona and Manchester City are among the teams monitoring his progress back in June.

However, the teenager has now opted to commit his long-term future to Arsenal, according to transfer expert Nicolo Schira.

He posted on X: “Done Deal! Arsenal’s top talent Max Dowman (born in 2009) has turned down 5 bids from foreign clubs to stay at Arsenal and he has already agreed personal terms to extend his contract with Gunners for a long time.

“He will sign his first professional contract when he turns 17 (December 2026); meanwhile the winger has accepted a pre-agreement + scholarship from December 2025 to December 2026.”

Arsenal contract talks

In addition to Dowman, Arsenal are also locked in contract talks with Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice.

All three players have established themselves as integral members of Arteta’s first-team squad and they are expected to pen fresh terms with the Gunners shortly.

Saka, in particular, is understood to be on the verge of extending his contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2030 and he is set to receive a major pay rise when his new deal is confirmed.
