Arsenal make bid for Real Madrid star that Xavi Alonso is ‘willing to accept’
Arsenal have formulated a bid for Rodrygo that Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso is happy to accept.
Rodrygo’s future continues to be a hot topic of conversation in the Spanish capital, with the Brazil star struggling for minutes since the arrival of the former Bayer Leverkusen coach.
The 24-year-old has started only three games this season and has rarely been given significant opportunities off the bench.
Transfer rumours are linking Rodrygo to numerous top clubs, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur thought to be among the most interested parties.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, along with Spurs and Manchester City, have already launched a bid for the ex-Santos star, according to a report from Spain.
It is claimed, via Football365, that the Gunners and their Premier League rivals have “submitted offers totalling €60m plus another €20m in achievable add-ons” for the Real Madrid attacker.
Alonso tells Real Madrid to sell Rodrygo
In return, Alonso has told president Florentino Perez that he should consider selling the player.
“Within the coaching staff, there’s a conviction that the project doesn’t depend on Rodrygo. The Brazilian maintains enormous ambition, but the level of influence he’s shown doesn’t match the role he’s demanding. His most recent performances have raised doubts, and the feeling is that he hasn’t quite established himself as a decisive player in Real Madrid ‘s crucial matches,” the report claims.
“Furthermore, his frustration with the lack of playing time in key matches has created unnecessary tension within the dressing room. According to internal sources, Xabi Alonso believes the squad needs stability and that his departure would ease tensions and reinforce his authority within a group undergoing a significant transition year. The offer is substantial and opens the door to reinvestment in priority positions.”
Rodrygo is one of a number of Real Madrid stars whose future at the club is uncertain, with Vinicius Junior increasingly restless and even Jude Bellingham subject to claims he could depart.
