Man City launch RECORD-BREAKING transfer bid for unhappy Real Madrid ace
Manchester City are ready to launch a record bid to prise Jude Bellingham away from Real Madrid, according to a report in Spain.
It is claimed that Bellingham’s poor relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso has caused him to consider his long-term future at Los Blancos.
Man City are ready to intervene to snap up the England international in a deal that will shatter the Premier League transfer record, which was set this summer as Alexander Isak left Newcastle United to sign for Liverpool for €145 million.
According to Fichajes, Pep Guardiola’s side are preparing a €150m bid for the former Borussia Dortmund star, “convinced” the 22-year-old will be a figure who can transform their midfield.
The Spanish source writes: “The situation at Real Madrid has complicated Bellingham's chances of staying. His relationship with manager Xabi Alonso is strained, and his performance this season has been below that of his first, opening the door to a possible move.”
There is no timescale given as to when Guardiola’s men might pounce, but a deal next summer seems likeliest.
Jude Bellingham: Man City’s present and future?
City have struggled to find a player to replace Kevin De Bruyne at the heart of their midfield after the Belgium international departed for Napoli as a free agent last summer.
In Bellingham, they see an experienced figure who can make an immediate impact but also be a fulcrum for their side in years to come.
It is claimed that City are also exploring the possibility of throwing Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, into a swap deal.
The form of Bellingham, meanwhile, has become a topic of discussion in Spain. After an electric start to his Real Madrid career after a €113m move from Dortmund in 2023, he has cooled off substantially. A total of three goals and one assist in 11 appearances this term has led to questions about how well adapted he is to play in Alonso’s system.
Consequently, Bellingham’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has dropped significantly to €110m, suggesting that the time might be right for Real Madrid to sell – particularly if Man City are willing to launch such an extravagant bid.
