Arsenal could reportedly be forced to consider selling Kai Havertz next summer following their recent spending spree.

The Gunners splashed €293.5 million on seven new signings this summer, with Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi among those to join the club, while they only generated a measly €10.3m through player sales.

Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos and Albert Sambi Lokonga were the three players Arsenal sold on permanent deals this summer, and it’s an issue that has been prevalent at the Emirates Stadium for years.

In fact, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain remains their most expensive sale in history, courtesy of his €38m transfer to Liverpool way back in 2016. The only current Premier League clubs with a smaller record sale than Arsenal are Sunderland (Jordan Pickford to Everton for €29m) and Burnley (Chris Wood to Newcastle for €30m).

Of course, Arsenal don’t want to be forced to sell their most prized assets, but it’s often needed to balance the books and fund additional incomings. As a result of their lucrative business this summer, The Athletic note that Arsenal will need to offset this cost by sanctioning several sales.

Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Gabriel Martinelli have all been linked with permanent departures in recent weeks, although it’s claimed that Havertz is “probably among Arsenal’s most saleable assets.”

The Germany international will turn 27 years old next June and with his current deal in north London due to expire in 2028, Arsenal may need to decide whether to offer him a contract extension or sanction a sale.

Arsenal join Samu Aghehowa battle

News that Arsenal could sell Havertz next summer comes following reports suggesting they have joined Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa.

The Spain centre forward is widely expected to secure a big-money transfer in 2026 and it’s reported that a fee of €90m may be needed to prise him away from Francesco Farioli’s side.

Aghehowa has scored 37 goals in 61 games since his arrival at Porto last year and Arsenal have earmarked him as a possible target amid their search for a new striker.
