‘Confident of closing transfer’ - Man Utd talks advance over January deal
Sevilla are confident of closing the deal to sign Joshua Zirkzee on loan from Manchester United in January.
That is according to respected Sevilla-focused Spanish publication Orgullo Biri, who report that Sevilla are in talks with United to sign Zirkzee in the winter window.
Negotiations are advancing and Sevilla are "confident of closing the operation".
The report adds that a possible sticking point is how Sevilla pay for Zirkzee's salary, which is €6.5 million per year.
But Sevilla believe they will find a way in negotiations to close the transfer.
Sevilla moved in strong after manager Matías Almeyda gave his approval to make Zirkzee their priority target for the January transfer window.
Zirkzee to leave Man Utd in January
Zirkzee is almost certain to leave United, either on loan or permanently, during the January transfer window.
United have not yet given the final green light for Zirkzee to leave but if he continues to play so little then a move seems likely.
Zirkzee has played just 90 minutes of football for Man Utd this season and wants to leave in order to advance his career and to give him a chance of going to the World Cup with Netherlands next summer.
West Ham have been considered the favourites to sign Zirkzee with Matteo Moretto.
Roma and Como have also been heavily linked with bringing Zirkzee back to Serie A.
Zirkzee joined Man Utd in the summer of 2024 in a €42.5 million move from Bologna.
The 23-year-old Zirkzee was one of the standout players in Serie A in the 2023-24 season, leading the club to historic qualification to the Champions League.
He was often compared to former Milan and Barcelona star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, he has struggled to show that form at Man Utd and has been criticised for a lack of goal threat.
In total, Zirkzee has made 54 appearances for Utd and scored seven goals.
