Everton edge closer to first January signing as former star AGREES to return
Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison is reportedly eager to complete a blockbuster move back to Everton during the January transfer window.
The Brazil forward has started 10 matches across all competitions so far this season, after working his way into favour under Thomas Frank, but he has less than two years remaining on his current contract in north London and he has been heavily linked with a 2026 departure.
TEAMtalk claim that Richarlison is “increasingly likely” to leave Spurs next year, while it’s reported that he has said “yes” to rejoining Everton.
The 28-year-old departed the Toffees to join Tottenham for €58 million in 2022 and it’s believed that he would love to return to the club in January.
Everton have reportedly identified the centre forward position as a key area in need of improvement in 2026, but they are yet to decide whether or not to submit a formal contract offer to their former star.
Furthermore, Tottenham will only sanction a departure if they are able to sign a suitable replacement during the mid-season window.
Richarlison to rejoin Everton?
Everton completed the signing of Villarreal centre forward Thierno Barry for €30m in July, however he has only started two Premier League matches this term and he is yet to score his first competitive goal for the Toffees.
In addition, Beto has also endured a tough start to the new campaign, scoring just once in nine English top flight fixtures.
By comparison, Richarlison has three goals and two assists to his name in the Premier League so far this season, although he has recently been displaced by Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani in Spurs’ preferred starting XI.
The Brazilian registered a total of 68 goal contributions in 152 appearances during a four-year spell at Everton from 2018 to 2022 and he is still remembered fondly by Toffees supporters, despite his decision to leave the club.
