Liverpool fans are fuming with head coach Arne Slot for his team selection for the Carabao Cup clash with Crystal Palace.

After several consecutive Premier League defeats, the Reds now face elimination from the Carabao Cup in what would significantly worsen their recent sporting crisis.

Although the club spent hundreds of millions last summer, truly convincing results have yet to materialise. Already before Wednesday's clash with Crystal Palace, the manager incurred the wrath of the fans.

Supporters vehemently disagreed with the lineup Slot had chosen. Despite Liverpool having already lost twice to Palace this season, Slot opted to omit most of his big names.

The starting lineup consisted primarily of fringe players and youngsters, with the bench not looking much stronger. Most of Liverpool's key players were watching the game from the stands.

Slot under pressure at Liverpool

When the starting XI was released, journalist Lewis Steele, who covers the Reds, joked on X: "Well, at least Liverpool going out gets me a few midweeks off work, cheers."

Unsurprisingly, Palace were leading 2-0 at half-time at Anfield, prompting several fans to suggest that Slot should start fearing for his job, despite leading Liverpool to the Premier League title last term. The Reds were ultimately defeated 3-0.

However, there doesn't seem to be any question of a sacking just yet. Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that things are calm internally on Merseyside regarding Slot's position, although he did acknowledge that results need to improve.
