Vini Jr and Xabi Alonso: Real Madrid’s reaction after El Clasico substitution

Although Real Madrid won El Clasico, Xabi Alonso’s side did not escape controversy during the clash, with Vinicius Junior’s behaviour falling in the spotlight.

Fabrizio Romano explained on his YouTube channel what the outcome of the clash could be.

He said: “Apart from an excellent 70+ minutes on the pitch, there was that moment when Xabi Alonso decided to substitute him. Vinicius wasn’t happy at all. Visibly frustrated, he went straight to the dressing room, then came back to the bench after his team-mates spoke to him. It was a tense moment, followed by that clash with Lamine Yamal. A chaotic afternoon overall for Real Madrid.

“Cameras caught Vinicius appearing to say something like: “Maybe I leave, maybe it’s better if I go out of the squad,” and that started a lot of speculation. So what’s the real situation?

“Real Madrid’s stance is very clear: they are not taking anything out of Xabi Alonso’s hands. The club is extremely happy with him - both on and off the pitch - and fully trust his authority. Xabi will handle the matter directly. He and Vinicius will talk face-to-face after the short break, and Madrid have already decided not to sanction Vinícius in any way. No fines, no suspensions - nothing like that.

“Xabi Alonso has already spoken publicly after the Clasico, saying he wants to focus on the positives - the team’s attitude, Vinicius’ performance - while calmly addressing the situation in private. So, no drama here. Xabi and Vinicius will talk, and that’s it.”

Liverpool backing Arne Slot despite poor Premier League start

Liverpool suffered a third successive Premier League loss at the weekend as they crashed to a 3-2 reverse at Brentford. It is not enough to put Arne Slot under pressure.

“Inside the club, Liverpool have full trust in him. The ownership and management are 100% convinced Slot is the right man to handle the situation,” Romano said.

“Yes, results have been poor, but there’s full belief that things will improve once the new signings fully settle and the team regains its rhythm. Communication between Slot, the directors, and the players is very good - there are no issues, no broken relationships, nothing like that. The club sees this as a tactical and mental challenge, not a crisis.

“Of course, Liverpool know results need to change quickly - you can’t go into November or December with more defeats - but for now, they’re standing firmly behind Arne Slot.”

Aston Villa open contract talks with Morgan Rogers amid Chelsea and Spurs interest

Romano addressed the situation of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who has been the subject to significant transfer interest.

He confirmed: “The club has opened negotiations with Morgan Rogers over a new contract. Talks are still at an early stage, there’s nothing agreed yet, but discussions are ongoing to define the new terms.

“Why now? Because in the summer, several clubs - including Chelsea and Tottenham - were very attentive to Rogers’s situation. Chelsea explored the idea early in the window before turning their focus to Alejandro Garnacho, while Tottenham were even prepared to spend big money. But Villa made it clear: Rogers was not for sale.

“That’s why his new contract is a big priority now. Talks will continue in the coming days and weeks - one to watch.”

Heung-min Son not in AC Milan talks despite loan rumours

Heung-min Son has been linked with a January loan transfer away from LA Galaxy while the MLS is at a standstill.

Romano confirmed: “There have been reports in the last couple of weeks about him potentially joining AC Milan on a short loan from LA Galaxy, similar to what David Beckham or Thierry Henry did during MLS off-seasons.

“However, from what I’m hearing, there are no negotiations at all between Son and AC Milan. His full focus remains on LA Galaxy - no discussions, no plans for a European loan at this stage.”
