Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will reportedly be under pressure if he fails to win a trophy this season following the club’s immense summer spending.

The Gunners splashed a whopping €293.5 million on Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer, and Arteta has been told that he must end the club’s five-year trophy drought in 2025-26.

That is according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim that Arsenal may be tempted to make a managerial change if the 43-year-old is unable to finally deliver a piece of major silverware this term.

Arteta guided the north London giants to FA Cup victory in 2020, however they haven’t won a major trophy since that triumph over Chelsea and patience is reportedly set to run out next summer.

Arsenal have finished as runners-up in each of the last three Premier League seasons, although they are currently top of the table after nine matches, having picked up 22 points, and they are the favourites to win the title amid the struggles of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City so far this campaign.

The Gunners are currently on a seven-game winning streak across all competitions, while they have only suffered one defeat in 13 matches in 2025-26 (against Liverpool).

Arsenal to sack Mikel Arteta?

Although it has been reported that Arteta could be under pressure if Arsenal are unsuccessful in their bid to end their trophy drought, he is expected to finally win a piece of silverware this season.

The north London outfit have one of the best squads in world football and they are the odds-on favourites to win the Premier League. They are also the joint-favourites to emerge victorious in the Champions League, alongside last season’s winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Furthermore, there appear to be a lack of suitable replacements for Arteta on the market, so the Spaniard is likely to retain his role as Arsenal head coach for the foreseeable future.
