Harry Kane breaks silence on Tottenham return: 'I thought I'd come back'
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has broken his silence on the persistent speculation linking him with a return to Tottenham.
The England captain has been nothing short of a sensational signing for the reigning Bundesliga champions since leaving Spurs as a club legend in 2023.
On Friday, Kane became the fastest player to score 100 goals in a European top-five league, doing so in just 104 games. He broke the record of 105 fixtures previously held by Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo.
With the 32-year-old having shown that Bundesliga football is too easy for him, many are wondering if he could make a return to the Premier League to try and break Alan Shearer's scoring record of 260 goals.
Indeed, in recent days, reports have increasingly floated the possibility of a move back to England, and the speculation has been fuelled by Tottenham boss Thomas Frank saying that he would welcome the striker back with open arms.
Kane on Spurs return
Two clauses in Kane's contract would allow him to move back to Tottenham. For one, Spurs have the right of first refusal on their club legend, meaning that they can match any offers that come in and become his priority destination.
There is also a unique €65 million release clause in his deal, which Kane would have to formally trigger in January if he was planning to move in the following summer.
However, speaking after his record-breaking brace against Bremen on Friday, the Three Lions star insisted that he is not thinking about leaving Bayern at all. "I'm really happy here at Bayern," he began.
"I still have two years left on my contract. And to be honest, I'm enjoying every minute. I enjoy playing here in front of the fans. I enjoy the team, the coach. So that's not on my mind at all. I'm just looking forward to this season and hope we'll be successful."
When quizzed about Shearer's record, he added: "When I left England, I thought maybe I'd come back to achieve that. But since I've been here, I've really enjoyed playing at this level."
