Real Madrid are eyeing another raid on Liverpool as they continue to search for a long-term solution to one of their problem positions.

The La Liga giants already signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool this summer and they are believed to be targeting Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer when his contract expires next year.

Having turned to the Merseyside club to strengthen their defence, Real could now line up one of Arne Slot’s star players to bolster their midfield, with Spanish outlet fichajes claiming that Ryan Gravenberch has become a ‘top priority’ for Madrid.

Real have been desperate to add a player who can bring physicality and creativity to their midfield after losing Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in recent years and Gravenberch’s standout performances for Liverpool has led to president Florentino Perez heading an approach for the 23-year-old.

Xabi Alonso is said to have endorsed the plan, with the club believing Gravenberch to offer the right balance of being able to produce at a high level currently while also having significant potential to develop.

However, Real are aware that a deal for Gravenberch won’t come easy, although there is ‘confidence’ that the player’s ambition combined with club’s prestige will help push a deal through.

Real set to break bank for Premier League midfielder

Gravenberch will have two years remaining on his contract next summer and it is claimed that Liverpool value the Dutchman at €65 million, although they are likely to demand a much higher fee closer to his Expected Transfer Value (ETV) of €86.1m to even consider his sale.

The former Bayern Munich youngster has missed just two league games since Slot’s arrival last summer and he was named the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season after his displays in the previous campaign.

For Real, they would likely require a sale of a player such as Eduardo Camavinga or Federico Valverde, both of whom have been recently linked with Premier League moves.

The likes of Adam Wharton and Enzo Fernandez have also been considered by Real but much will depend on the affordability and availability of their targets.
