Real Madrid could be in line for a sensational overhaul of their forward line after Vinicius Junior’s contract talks collapsed.

Vini Jr’s future at the Bernabeu has been up in the air for months. Amid reports that the Saudi Pro League is ready to launch a world-record bid for the 25-year-old, officials at Real Madrid have grown tired of the player’s demand to receive wage parity with Kylian Mbappe.

Now AS reports that talks between the Brazil forward and the club have ‘fallen apart’ after what is described as a “final meeting” in Madrid.

The Spanish paper states that talks broke off following the Club World Cup in the summer, despite Vini Jr finally lowering his wage demands. It is added that the player’s effort to reduce his salary was “probably five times greater than the club’s effort to raise their initial offer”.

With Vini Jr’s contract due to expire in June 2027, there now promises to be a tense standoff.

Both the player and the club, though, want to continue their collaboration, which suggests that although talks have broken down for now, there is the prospect of them being resurrected.

Real Madrid will need a resolution by next summer as they cannot afford a player as valuable as Vini Jr to depart on a free transfer.

With the South American’s importance to Xabi Alonso’s tactical scheme less pronounced than it was under Carlo Ancelotti previously, it may be that he needs to further cut his demands.

Newcastle swoop for Endrick

Newcastle are ready to move for Real Madrid striker Endrick, who has found himself even more peripheral than Vini Jr under Alonso.

The 19-year-old has not featured at all since the Club World Cup, where the impact of Gonzalo Garcia rather pushed him into the shade.

Eddie Howe’s side, meanwhile, see the teenager as a perfect fit for their project, according to Fichajes.

Endrick could be open to a move in January should he continue to be frustrated in his efforts to play, with the Brazilian of the belief he needs regular game time in order to develop.
