Cristiano Ronaldo hits out at ‘IDIOTS’ over controversial transfer claim
Cristiano Ronaldo has criticised “idiots” for their opinions regarding one of the most surprising transfers in recent history.
Al-Nassr star Ronaldo has taken on additional responsibilities at the club since signing a new contract, which means he has more sway over issues such a player recruitment.
And the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star seems to have taken exception to the idea that any player in their prime would want to move to the Saudi Pro League to feature alongside him.
Indeed, Joao Felix was criticised on the podcast Chuveirinho for leaving Chelsea to hook up with Ronaldo at Al-Nassr this summer in one of the most surprising deals of the window.
At just 25, Felix is approaching his peak years, and as a player once transferred for €127 million when he left Benfica for Atletico Madrid, it was suggested that a move to Saudi represented a big step backwards in his career.
In the comments section, Ronaldo sent a withering message: "Idiots don’t understand anything about football, yet they still give their opinions."
Joao Felix explains Ronaldo influence in Saudi move
Ronaldo’s influence in Joao Felix’s decision to move to Al-Nassr is clear.
Asked about his decision, Felix replied: "Ronaldo? You can see he's building something here and doing his part in developing the project.
"He was one of the first to talk to me about coming here, and when he talked to me, I felt a wonderful moment and a beautiful feeling, and that helped convince me.
“I feel like this league is evolving a lot. Every year, more players come to play here. The project at Al Nassr is good and exciting. Of course, I want to help the team and the club as much as possible, score goals, provide assists, and help them win games.”
Al-Nassr signed Joao Felix for €30m from Chelsea, but his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has since dropped to €15m since moving to Saudi.
