It's official: Another Onana masterclass proves Man Utd are CURSED
Manchester United’s ‘curse’ appears to live on after Andre Onana continued his impressive start to life away from Old Trafford with another standout display for Trabzonspor.
Onana joined the Turkish side on loan earlier this month after losing his place in Ruben Amorim’s team following a series of mistakes and poor performances in goal for United.
The Cameroonian shotstopper is hoping to recapture his best form out of the limelight in Turkey and he produced a man-of-the-match display on his debut, making eight saves during Trabzonspor’s narrow loss to Fenerbahce.
And in his second appearance for Trabzonspor, Onana showcased the other side of his game, producing an assist with a 60-yard pass to Paul Onuachu, helping his side grab a 1-1 draw against Gaziantep FK.
The rapid change in Onana’s fortunes comes after Marcus Rashford starred on loan for Barcelona with two goals in midweek against Newcastle in the Champions League, while Rasmus Hojlund also netted on his debut for Napoli last week.
Such turnarounds has only fuelled humorous talk of a ‘curse’ at United which has repeatedly seen underperforming stars find their best form almost immediately after leaving the club, with Onana now the latest player to benefit from a fresh start away from Old Trafford.
United loanees aiming to benefit permanently from new lease on life
United already saw a number of their former players thrive last season away from the club, with Scott McTominay being named Serie A’s Most Valuable Player after leading Napoli to the title in his first season with the Italian side.

Antony, too, established himself as a fan favourite for Real Betis during his short loan in Spain which led to him permanently joining the Spanish outfit during the summer.
The likes of Hojlund, Onana and Rashford will be hoping to emulate those successes and earn permanent moves away from United after their loans, with neither player expected to ever feature again under Amorim.
However, while Hojlund and Rashford both have clauses which could see their loan moves become permanent, Trabzonspor would be forced to negotiate with United if they wish to keep hold of Onana, having only agreed to pay the 29-year-old’s wages during his stint in Turkey.
