Wonderkid wants Man Utd over Arsenal in transfer that would SHOCK England
CSKA Moscow youngster Kirill Glebov has his heart set on joining Manchester United despite interest from Arsenal, according to a report.
The 19-year-old has been making waves in the Russian Premier League in recent weeks, scoring three goals in seven outings for capital club CSKA. This form recently saw him rewarded with his senior debut for the Russian national team against Jordan.
According to CaughtOffside, Glebov has caught the attention of several European big hitters, including the likes of Arsenal and more sides from England and the continent.
However, the winger is a boyhood Man Utd fan and reportedly dreams of lining up for the Red Devils at Old Trafford, which is why his representatives are said to be reluctant to 'rush him into a move abroad' and are instead waiting for the right opportunity - preferably at Man Utd.
Be that as it may, a move of Glebov to England, Germany or any other European country would, of course, have significant political implications and cause a stir.
Could Man Utd sign Glebov?
As already pointed out earlier this summer when Man Utd were linked with Krasnodar captain Eduard Spertsyan, it is doubtful whether a Premier League club would be permitted to sign a Russian national or a person with close ties to the country, as is the case with the Armenia international.
Transferring money to a Russian entity would breach the UK's sanctions regime and likely entail some political repercussions. Whether CSKA would be willing to do business with a UK-based club is also questionable amid their ongoing dispute with West Ham.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled earlier this year that West Ham won't have to pay CSKA the money they still owe for Nikola Vlasic as long as the UK's sanctions are in place.
Last season, the UK refused to grant Arsen Zakharyan, a Russian national of Armenian descent, entry into the country when Real Sociedad faced Man Utd in the Europa League.
All of this is to say that it would be quite a shocking development if Glebov were to end up in England at any point in the near future.
