Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers for €100 million after missing out on Xavi Simons this summer.

Rogers, 23, was on Chelsea’s transfer shortlist ahead of the new Premier League season, but they opted to pursue a deal for Simons instead as Aston Villa were extremely reluctant to sell.

However, Chelsea were unable to finalise a transfer for Simons and they eventually saw his proposed move to Stamford Bridge hijacked by Tottenham Hotspur.

Enzo Maresca’s side instead landed Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion, but they are set to rekindle their interest in Rogers next summer once the Argentina’s temporary spell in west London draws to a close.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are even willing to spend a whopping €100m to sign Rogers in 2026, which would make him the club’s fourth-most expensive player of all time, behind only Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romelu Lukaku.

Rogers, who registered 30 goal contributions in 54 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa last season, is also a target for Tottenham, however their interest is likely to wane following the signing of the aforementioned Simons.

Villa will once again push to retain Rogers’ services next summer, but Chelsea are reportedly determined to bring him to Stamford Bridge as they look to bolster the attacking options available to Maresca.

Is Morgan Rogers best friends with Cole Palmer?

Palmer and Rogers are extremely close friends after playing together in Manchester City’s academy.

Palmer notably copied his trademark ‘cold’ celebration from the Aston Villa star, while the Chelsea talisman recently revealed that he speaks to Rogers on FaceTime on a daily basis during an interview with Sky Sports earlier this year.
