Confirmed: Andre Onana AGREES to leave Man Utd - Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is now on the verge of joining Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal.
The Cameroon international has been demoted to Ruben Amorim’s second-choice goalkeeper so far this season, while the arrival of Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens on Transfer Deadline has pushed the 29-year-old even further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
As a result, he has been heavily linked with a Man Utd exit and he is now close to completing a surprise move to Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor on a temporary basis.
Onana was initially eager to fight for his place at Old Trafford, however reports on Saturday confirmed that he is open to joining Fatih Tekke’s side on a one-year loan deal.
Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that a full agreement has been reached. He posted on X: "Andre Onana agrees to join Trabzonspor, here we go!
"All contracts are now signed on player side, waiting on counter approval from Trabzonspor and travel next week. Deal done on loan from Manchester United as revealed on Saturday, no buy option or loan fee.
Onana, who has made 102 appearances for Man Utd since his arrival from Inter Milan in 2023, is expected to arrive as Trabzonspor’s replacement for the departed Ugurcan Cakir if his proposed move goes through before the Turkish summer transfer window closes on 12 September.
Andre Onana close to leaving Man Utd
Onana is set to become the 12th player to leave Man Utd this summer, although Alejandro Garnacho and Antony are the only stars who have departed on permanent deals.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils spent a whopping €250.7 million on new signings during the summer window in a bid to significantly bolster the squad available to Amorim following their worst ever Premier League season last year.
Onana has three years remaining on his current contract at Man Utd, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €27.4m.
