Man Utd regret signing Sesko over ON-FIRE bargain
Manchester United may regret signing Benjamin Sesko over Dusan Vlahovic this summer, with the Serbian starting the season in electrifying form.
United were in the market all summer for a top class number nine, and Vlahovic was one of the top names on their shortlist.
Vlahovic was available at a bargain price of just €20-25 million as Juventus were desperate to get rid of a high earner who had just one year left on his contract.
However, in the end, United opted to snub Vlahovic, who remained in Turin for the 2025-26 season after which he is expected to leave on a Bosman transfer at the end of the campaign.
Should Man Utd have signed Vlahovic instead of Sesko?
Instead of spending €20-25m on Vlahovic (albeit with a higher salary), United splashed out as much as €85m on Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko has had a difficult start to his career at Old Trafford. He has failed to score in his first four matches of the season and was especially poor during the humiliating EFL Cup defeat to fourth division Grimsby.
He also hit a blank for Slovenia in their 2-2 draw with Sweden on Friday, although he did at least get an assist.
As questions are already being asked of Sesko, Juventus and Serbia striker Vlahovic has started the season on fire.
He scored in Juventus' first two matches of the season, hitting the second goal on matchday one against Parma before heading the winner in the 1-0 win over Genoa.
And on Saturday, Vlahovic took his club form to the national team by scoring a crucial winner for Serbia in their 1-0 World Cup qualifying win at Latvia.
Vlahovic's form in post-Club World Cup pre-season was also excellent as he also scored in the friendlies against Atalanta and Reggiana.
Will Man Utd live to regret the decision to sign Sesko instead of Vlahovic?
Vlahovic has scored 60 goals in 147 games for Juventus, but has generally not been popular with fans.
Nevertheless, he has started this season with a point to prove and the Bianconeri will be hoping it continues all campaign.
