Pep Guardiola’s side re-signed James Trafford on a permanent deal from Burnley back in July, but they have opted to bring Donnarumma to the club after sanctioning the departure of Ederson to Fenerbahce.

The former AC Milan star played a pivotal role as PSG won the Ligue 1 and Champions League double last season, however he was cast aside by Luis Enrique following the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille.

Man City have been in talks to sign Donnarumma for several weeks and they have formally announced his arrival after agreeing to pay €30m to bring him to the Premier League.

Upon confirmation of his move, Donnarumma told the Man City website: "To have signed for Manchester City is such a special and proud moment for me.

“I am joining a squad packed with world-class talent and a team led by the one of the greatest managers in the history of football in Pep Guardiola. This is a club every player in world football would love to join.

“I have admired watching Manchester City for many years - so to now be able to play for the Club is a huge honour and a privilege.

“I cannot wait to meet my new teammates, the staff and the fans. Playing at the Etihad Stadium will be very, very special for me.

“I am very excited for what lies ahead and can promise that I will give absolutely everything to try and help the Club achieve even more success."

Chelsea and Manchester United were also tipped as potential destinations for Donnarumma this summer, however the former have opted against purchasing a new goalkeeper and the latter instead signed Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens.

Donnarumma has become Man City’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Tijjani Reijnders (€55m from AC Milan), Rayan Ait-Nouri (€36.8m from Wolverhampton Wanderers), Rayan Cherki (€36.5m from Olympique Lyon), the aforementioned Trafford (€31.2m from Burnley), Sverre Nypan (€15m from Rosenborg) and Marcus Bettinelli (€2.4m from Chelsea).

Meanwhile, Guardiola’s side have sanctioned six permanent departures, including Kevin De Bruyne, who has joined Napoli on a Bosman deal, and Kyle Walker, who is now a Burnley player after completing a transfer to Turf Moor for an undisclosed fee.

Donnarumma could make his Man City debut in the Manchester derby against Man Utd on 14 September after the upcoming international break.
