Mo Salah has reacted angrily towards Liverpool fans, who he feels have shown disrespect to the Premier League champions.

Arne Slot’s side marched comfortably to the title last season but are refusing to rest on their laurels.

Over the summer months, Liverpool have gone on an ambitious spree that has seen them spend more money in a single window than any other club in the history of the game.

It was capped off by the arrival of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United on Deadline Day for a British record fee in the region of €145 million. Prior to that, though, the Reds had completed a number of exciting signings, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.

Salah, though, feels that the players who helped Liverpool to the title last season should not simply be airbrushed out of history – or even worse, slandered by Reds fans.

Taking to X, the Egypt international attacker quoted a fan account that suggested that the Anfield club had made the ‘biggest upgrade in footballing history’ by replacing Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez with Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

Salah said: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?”

Salah soon set to wave goodbye

FootballTransfers understands that although Salah signed a two-year contract before the summer, this will be his final year with Liverpool.

The attacker scored 29 goals and generated 18 assists last season for Slot’s side, but this is set to be his last season at Anfield.

While he has not decided on his destination, FootballTransfers understands that he will probably take up an offer from the Saudi Pro League, where he has long been coveted.

Liverpool’s big spending this summer has been geared to the post-Salah era at Anfield, and with the likes of Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike bolstering an already formidable attack, the Reds look well placed to take this step.
