Mohamed Salah is ready to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2026, sources have informed FootballTransfers.

Salah had been involved in protracted negotiations with the Anfield club over a new contract at the end of the season, with Liverpool left sweating about the prospect of losing their star man as a free agent.

Ultimately, a deal was agreed that saw the 33-year-old attacker agree a new two-year contract with Arne Slot’s side, having enjoyed the best campaign of his career in 2024/25.

Salah scored 29 goals and created 18 more as Liverpool romped to the Premier League title, with the Egypt international producing arguably the best individual season in the history of the division.

Long coveted by the Saudi Pro League, which sees him as a marquee signing, serious interest earlier this year came from the Gulf.

FootballTransfers understands that Salah will leave the Reds in the summer, and is likely to take up an offer from Saudi.

Indeed, Liverpool have spent more than €300 million in the transfer market, largely in preparation for the superstar’s exit.

Salah admits ongoing Saudi talks

Salah has previously admitted that he has been in talks with officials from the Pro League.

Speaking to On Sport while celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title in May, he even admitted that he was continuing discussions with Saudi officials.

“I thought there was a good opportunity to join the Saudi League. I believed I might go there if I didn’t renew my contract with Liverpool,” Salah explained.

“My relationship with people there [in Saudi Arabia] is still good and ongoing. There were serious negotiations to sign me.

“Liverpool fans were part of the contract renewal process – they put pressure on the management because I’ve been at the club for seven years.

“From day one, I knew they wanted me to stay.”

Unless there is an incredible U-turn, Salah will leave Liverpool next summer as one of the all-time greats of the Anfield club – and crucially the Reds will secure a healthy transfer fee for the superstar.
