Two high-profile Premier League players have been left red faced following an embarrassing transfer blunder that has seen them go viral for their goodbye messages to their respective former clubs.

Article continues under the video

Christianus Uche, who left Getafe to join Crystal Palace on loan, and Fabio Silva, who made a €22.5 million move to Borussia Dortmund from Wolves, are the two players who have fallen under the spotlight.

The pair each completed their deals late in the summer transfer window, but it is the manner in which they waved their farewells to their previous clubs that caught the attention.

Fabio Silva and Nigeria international Uche published identical statements on their social channels.

What did the copied message say?

The Portuguese completed his move in August and was, therefore, the first to post the message, which reads:

“When I first arrived at Wolves, I came full of ambition, dreams, and the desire to make a real impact. I know I didn’t come close to meeting the expectations.

“But football and life are about more than just numbers or moments on the pitch. During my time here, I’ve grown, I’ve learned, and above all, I’ve discovered the true meaning of family. That’s what Wolves gave me. From day one, the people inside this club made sure I never lacked support. They created the conditions for me to succeed, to feel safe, to feel at home and for that, I’ll always be thankful.

“To all the coaches who guided me, the teammates who stood beside me, and every member of staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes: thank you. Your kindness, your professionalism, and your belief in me will never be forgotten. I’ve built friendships here that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

“Life has taught me never to give up, to fight twice as hard when things don’t go as planned. I always tried to stay true to that, to keep chasing my happiness and well-being, even when the road got tough. I leave with a bittersweet feeling, but also with pride, knowing that I gave my all and never stopped trying.

“Now it’s time for a new chapter, but I won’t forget where I’ve been. I’ll always be another supporter of this club.

“Thank you, Wolves. From the bottom of my heart.”

Uche’s message is word-for-word the same as that of Fabio Silva’s, with the exception that Wolves have been swapped out for Getafe. Given the context, the pair surprisingly do not share an agency.

A viral image of the pair’s statements side by side has gained well over 100,000 views on X, while both the Instagram posts of Fabio Silva and Uche were available at the time of writing.
