Aston Villa will sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho on loan, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the final member of the Old Trafford's 'Bomb Squad' is set to depart.

United boss Ruben Amorim wanted the club to axe Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Sancho this summer, and it appears he will get his wish.

Rashford moved to Barcelona early in the transfer window, while late deals have been struck for Garnacho to go to Chelsea and Hojlund to leave for Napoli. Early on Deadline Day, an agreement for Antony with Real Betis was reached, and not too long after, Villa snapped up Jadon Sancho.

Flat offensively in the opening weeks of the season and reeling after being thumped 3-0 by Crystal Palace at home on Sunday, Unai Emery’s side rushed through a deal for Sancho. It is a move that echoes Villa’s loan for Marcus Rashford in January.

Sky Sports transfer correspondent Dharmesh Sheth first reported: “Aston Villa are in talks with Manchester United over the signing of Jadon Sancho. The discussions are over a loan deal for the winger.

“Villa are also in dialogue with Sancho's camp over personal terms.”

Soon afterwards, a major breakthrough was reported by Romano, who tweeted: "Jadon Sancho to Aston Villa, here we go! Deal in place on initial loan from Manchester United. Green light from United and deal being sealed with formal steps to follow next.

"Sancho will join Aston Villa."

Villa and United in goalkeeper battle

The fortunes of Villa and Man Utd seem intertwined on Deadline Day, with goalkeeper Emi Martinez tipped to swap the Birmingham side for Old Trafford.

Another deal that both are involved in is for goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

The Royal Antwerp goalkeeper has been heavily linked with Man Utd this summer, largely by Fabrizio Romano. Eagled-eyed Villa fans spotted a club jet scheduled to travel to Belgium, believing this might signal a hijack attempt of the deal.

The jet has since been cancelled, apparently grounding Villa’s hopes of signing the 23-year-old, particularly as The Athletic reports that United have found a €25m agreement with the keeper.
