Man Utd FINALLY receive transfer interest for unwanted FLOP
Manchester United could finally be edging towards their first sale of the summer after Fabrizio Romano confirmed Jadon Sancho has opened the door to joining a new club.
United have spent €230 million players this summer and could splash out a further €112m if an agreement is confirmed between them and Brighton for the signing of Carlos Baleba, with Sancho's sale perhaps a crucial domino to free up funds for a move.
The heavy summer of spending has come in spite of United’s claims of limited resources after missing out on European football for next season, having failed to permanently sell any player so far this summer.
Although Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on loan, United have struggled to convince clubs to meet their asking prices for the likes of Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.
However, Sancho may end up being United’s first sale of the window after Roma made an approach for the 25-year-old for a loan move with an obligation to buy for £20m (€23m.)
Romano has claimed that the decision is in Sancho’s hands, although The Athletic report that club-to-club talks are at an early stage with the deal likely to be ‘tricky’ to complete.
Sancho edging towards Man Utd exit after turbulent summer
Sancho is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and, while United have the option to extend it for a further season, the club are desperate to get his wages off the books for good.
The winger was expected to join Chelsea after his loan spell last season but he failed to agree terms with the Blues, who ended up paying £5m as a penalty to avoid permanently signing him.
Sancho has since held talks with the likes of Juventus and Dortmund but neither side have met United’s valuation, while the player is said to not be keen on a move to Turkey despite interest from teams such as Besiktas.
There is no indication as of yet whether Sancho is keen on the move to Roma but it may represent his best option to leave United this summer, although the Serie A giants are also in talks to sign Leon Bailey from Aston Villa which may complicate matters.
