Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Guehi CONFIRMED, Man Utd PLAN, Donnarumma Man City GUARANTEE
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has given updates on headline stories from around the market, with the latest updates on Marc Guehi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rasmus Hojlund and more.
Donnarumma heading for England
Romano says that PSG’s exiled goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has his heart set on a summer move.
“Donnarumma’s most likely destination is the Premier League. This is what he wants to do. There are no contacts ongoing with Italian clubs. Donnarumma wants to leave PSG now if they can find a solution,” he told his YouTube channel.
“For Manchester City, they’ve already had contacts and meetings. But they need Ederson to leave, and he has interest from Galatasaray and more Turkish clubs. Things could materialise. Galatasaray are there so it’s one to watch.
“Man City also want Donnarumma’s price to be reduced. But the player is keen on a move to City, I can guarantee that. He’s even discussed personal terms with his agent.
“Chelsea are not in the race and Manchester United are informed on the Donnarumma story, but at the moment they’re giving priority to Carlos Baleba.”
City’s dream Savinho replacement
Manchester City are still targeting a move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, but several dominoes need to fall into place for it to happen.
Romano explains: “Tottenham are in talks to sign Savinho. But Man City will not accept €50-60m for him. Either Tottenham bring a higher bid or the deal won’t happen. If Savinho leaves, Man City want to try for Rodrygo from Real Madrid. Is this going to happen? We’ll see. But Rodrygo is the player discussed internally.
“I’m told Maghnes Akliouche is not on the list of Manchester City. Rumours on Xavi Simons: I’m told the situation hasn’t changed. Chelsea are still in negotiations with RB Leipzig but the situation is not changing. They’re still in talks.
“The dream target of Pep Guardiola is Rodrygo Goes.”
Man Utd forcing Hojlund out
Manchester United are set to take a decision on Rasmus Hojlund’s future out of the hands of the striker. The Red Devils are pushing him towards the exit following Benjamin Sesko’s arrival.
“Rasmus Hojlund is not giving any final decision but he’s started to open the doors to a potential move. We’re slowly getting there. I’m told that this is not a deal that is expected to happen very quickly. It won’t happen tomorrow or Friday,” Romano said.
“Milan and Man Utd are talking on a loan deal worth €6m, salary covered and a buy-option clause of €40-45m, but also they need to reach an agreement on the contract. If it’s a loan with a buy option in 2026, the contract has to be ready. What I can tell you is that talks took place between the agents of Hojlund and Milan, so the expectation remains absolutely valid.
“The player still wants to fight for a place at Man Utd, but the club is being clear with him: they want him to go. Milan is an option, Leipzig wanted him.”
Liverpool’s centre-back hunt
Romano has given updates on two potential Liverpool signings, tipping the Reds for at least one more big move.
He said: “Giovanni Leoni is coming. A deal is almost there. The agreement is done with the player, agreement with the agent, club-to-club is getting there. I think we’re very close to saying: ‘Here we go’.
“Leoni is for now. He’s not going back to Italy on loan. He’s wanted by everyone at Liverpool. They want to complete this negotiation as soon as possible.
“They’re also working on a deal for Marc Guehi. I can confirm that Liverpool are OK with the player but still waiting to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace. They’ve offered £30-35m, Palace want more.”
