Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Garnacho to Chelsea CONFIRMATION, Arsenal AGREEMENT, Enciso DOUBT
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered the latest news from the 2025 summer window, with updates on Alejandro Garnacho, Piero Hincapie and Julio Enciso.
Rasmus Hojlund close to Napoli
Manchester United are on the verge of offloading Rasmus Hojlund back to Serie A and Romano confirmed that a deal is close during his latest YouTube video.
“Rasmus Hojlund’s deal to join Napoli is almost agreed with Man Utd,” he said. “Final details to be clarified with the player and then Hojlund could travel for medical as a new Napoli player.
“It will be a loan with an option to buy, which will become an obligation under certain conditions. These conditions are appearances and Champions League qualification for Napoli.”
Alejandro Garnacho to join Chelsea
Alejandro Garnacho is also set to leave Man Utd, with the Argentina international finally closing in on his long-awaited move to Chelsea.
“The feeling of the last 24, 48 hours is on Alejandro Garnacho clearly to go to Chelsea. Garnacho’s camp are very optimistic about that and they have turned down all other approaches,” Romano revealed.
“I'm told that a Saudi club called again in recent days to ask about the situation. The answer was, ‘thanks, but it's not about the money.’ Garnacho wants to play for Chelsea, and they maintain this agreement they have on personal terms and this feeling to get a deal done before the deadline. I expect this deal to happen.”
Chelsea exit talks
With Garnacho set to arrive, Chelsea are eager to sell a number of stars in order to make room for the Man Utd winger.
Romano admitted: “Today Roma director Frederic Massara is in London to negotiate with Chelsea for Tyrique George. So there's a conversation ongoing for George and it could be a permanent transfer with a heavy sell-on clause.
“And remember what I told you last night about Nicolas Jackson. Many movements because Newcastle are calling and Aston Villa are calling, but Bayern Munich have made direct club-to-club contact with Chelsea.
“The two clubs are negotiating in terms of the formula of the deal and Bayern have strongly entered the race for Jackson.”
Alexander Isak ‘pushing’
Alexander Isak’s transfer saga has been the story of the summer, but he is still yet to secure his dream move from Newcastle United to Liverpool.
“We have to mention Alexander Isak. We are in crucial hours now. Time is running out and obviously they need to find a solution,” Romano confirmed.
“As of today, lunchtime, Isak is still fighting to go to Liverpool and he's still not changing his mind. Isak is pushing and Liverpool are waiting for Newcastle.
“What's going on at Newcastle? They are still, from what I'm hearing, in negotiations with Wolves for Jorgen Strand Larsen. He extended his contract earlier this summer and Wolves have already turned down a proposal worth £50 million from Newcastle in the last 24 hours.
“But they are still trying to find a structure for Strand Larsen to join the club and become their new striker. It’s not easy because Wolves insist on no intention to sell the player, but the deal is on for Strand Larsen to join Newcastle.”
Romano added: “Don't forget they [Newcastle] need two strikers and Yoane Wissa from Brentford remains a topic with the player keen on the move. He is giving his priority to Newcastle despite approaches from Saudi Arabia.
“Dusan Vlahovic was also offered to Newcastle, but that happened weeks ago. At the moment, the focus of Newcastle is still on Strand Larsen and Wissa.”
Piero Hincapie to join Arsenal?
Arsenal have already bolstered their defence with the signing of Cristhian Mosquera so far this summer, but they are eager to land Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie before Deadline Day.
“Piero Hincapie has reached an agreement on personal terms with Arsenal,” Romano revealed. “There have been very good contacts in the recent hours between Hincapie and Arsenal, and the contract is ready. The player has said ‘yes’ to Arsenal. He is really attracted by the project and by the possibility of being an important player for Mikel Arteta.
“What I'm hearing is that the Jakub Kiwior situation is crucial. Today, Porto sent an official bid over €25m. It's a loan with an obligation-to-buy. Now it's Arsenal who have to decide whether they want to let Kiwior go and close the deal for Hincapie or not.
“The agreement with the player is done and what I'm hearing is that Arsenal are waiting to understand if they can make it work financially. It could maybe be a loan with an obligation-to-buy rather than paying the release clause of €60m.”
Gianluigi Donnarumma update
Romano has also confirmed that Gianluigi Donnarumma is edging towards a blockbuster move to Man City.
“Man City are advancing fast on a deal for Gianluigi Donnarumma. The agreement with PSG for a fee of around €30m-35m is getting really close,” Romano said.
“The agent of Donnarumma has been discussing terms with PSG in order to facilitate the exit and go to Man City.
“Ederson has to leave as I told you. So if Ederson leaves, Donnarumma will be the new goalkeeper of Manchester City.”
Kobbie Mainoo to leave Man Utd?
Kobbie Mainoo has been heavily linked with a Man Utd exit amid his current role under Ruben Amorim, but the Red Devils aren’t in talks over a sale, as per Romano.
“Kobbie Mainoo is not happy to stay on the bench. He played zero minutes [versus Fulham] and then after the game, Ruben Amorim said that he has to compete with Bruno Fernandes, who is a really important player in the squad,” Romano relayed.
“But I can guarantee that at the moment there are no negotiations, no bids and no active talks for Mainoo to leave Man Utd.
“Man Utd still hope to control the situation and they will speak to Mainoo to explain the situation to him.”
Julio Enciso latest
Finally, Romano provided an update on Julio Enciso ahead of his move to Strasbourg.
“Julio Enciso is waiting for Chelsea. This season will be at Strasbourg and in the future at Chelsea,” the football transfer news expert said.
“But, they are waiting to have the results of several medical tests he did because Enciso had a serious injury in the recent months and so they want to check everything in detail.
“Then they will give the green light, but the medical test here is not formality; it’s something important in order to give the green light to the move for Julio Enciso to Strasbourg and then future to Chelsea.”
