Moises Caicedo left DISAPPOINTED as Chelsea ignore transfer demand
Chelsea have seemingly ignored Moises Caicedo’s transfer advice, with his Ecuador team-mate Joel Ordonez now on the verge of completing a summer move to Olympique Marseille.
Ordonez, 21, has enjoyed a stellar stint at Club Brugge and he is “one step away” from joining Marseille on a five-year contract for an initial fee of €30 million, plus an additional €3m in add-ons.
That is according to football transfer expert Nicolo Schira, who claims that Ordonez has asked Club Brugge to sell him to Marseille this summer after three years in Belgium.
Chelsea midfielder Caicedo is a known admirer of Ordonez and sensational reports back in February claimed that he had urged the Blues to finalise a deal this summer.
The 23-year-old was eager to play with Ordonez at club level and he reportedly communicated this desire to the Chelsea hierarchy. However, a possible deal is now extremely unlikely.
Chelsea close to signing Jorrel Hato
Although Chelsea ultimately opted against pursuing a deal for Ordonez, they are close to strengthening their defence with the addition of Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato.
Hato is expected to provide cover for Marc Cucurella at full-back next season, although he will also compete with Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile for the left centre-back position.
Once Hato’s arrival is officially confirmed, Chelsea will turn their attention to finalising several defensive exits, with the club eager to offload Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi and Alfie Gilchrist on permanent deals before the end of the 2025 summer transfer window.
Aaron Anselmino is also expected to leave west London this summer, although Chelsea will only sanction a loan departure as they view the 20-year-old as a potential future star.
