Chelsea complete agreement with €65m star - Romano
Chelsea have reached a full agreement with Marc Cucurella over a new long-term contract at the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Spain international still has three years remaining on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, after signing a six-year contract upon his arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022, but he has now agreed fresh terms with the Blues.
That is according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “EXCL: Chelsea have now completed the agreement with Marc Cucurella over [a] new deal.
“Seen as [a] key player on the pitch, leader off the pitch and really important for [the] present/future. New contract is signed and sealed for Cucurella at CFC.”
Cucurella has been in talks with Chelsea over a contract extension for several weeks and an agreement has seemingly been reached after his stellar form last season.
The 27-year-old scored seven goals and provided four assists in 54 appearances across all competitions last term, and he established himself as one of the most important players in Enzo Maresca’s system.
The Spaniard endured a tough first two seasons at Chelsea, following his €65.3 million move from Brighton, but his form for Spain at Euro 2024 was exceptional and he enjoyed a fantastic 2024-25 campaign at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea transfer news
Moises Caicedo is reportedly also in line for a new contract at Chelsea, despite the fact his current deal isn’t due to expire until 2031.
The Ecuador international won the Blues’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards last season and rumours suggest he will soon be rewarded with a fresh deal that includes a substantial pay rise.
Cucurella’s contract extension is expected to be formally announced by Chelsea soon, and the west London giants will likely then turn their attention to finalising the signings of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho and RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.
