The Blues have spent close to €280 million on new players during the transfer window but have finalised a deal that will significantly reduce their net spend.

Romano says that a deal has been reached to send Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich, with the Senegal international potentially joining the Allianz Arena outfit permanently for a total of €95m.

The initial deal will be conducted on a loan basis. Bayern will pay a €15m fee to have Jackson for the next year. Should the Bundesliga side want to keep him beyond that period, the total value of the purchase option they have his €80m. This is not a mandatory buyout clause.

Chelsea, who have Jackson under contract until 2033, will have the full salary of the 24-year-old striker paid during his time in Germany.

Jackson is Kane’s heir

Jackson has spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge since making a €37m move from Villarreal in the summer of 2023.

Over that time, he has returned 30 goals in 78 appearances and has chipped in a further 11 assists for the Blues. While his return has been commendable, he has frustrated fans with his erratic finishing and his questionable disciplinary record.

Nevertheless, Jackson’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has climbed to €65m during his stay in West London – more than doubling since he first arrived at the club.

At Bayern Munich, he will find himself the second pick No.9 after Harry Kane, but with the England international striker now 32, it would come as little surprise if he were picked as the long-term successor in the centre-forward role to the Englishman.

Should FCB buy out his deal for Chelsea next summer, his total cost could hit €95m, making him the second-biggest sale ever in the history of the Stamford Bridge side behind only Eden Hazard.
