Chelsea to send ANOTHER star to Strasbourg
Strasbourg are interested in Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell, according to a report.
The 28-year-old is once again part of the Blues' 'Bomb Squad' after spending the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace. Chilwell failed to secure a transfer last summer, and he is once again struggling to find a new employer.
The former England international has had injury problems and is on a big wage, so suitors have been reluctant to move for him. With just a couple of days left in the market, there is a chance that Chilwell will remain on the books at Chelsea.
However, a creative solution could yet be found before the deadline. According to The Telegraph, BlueCo sister club Strasbourg are interested in Chilwell and could offer him a way out of his Stamford Bridge nightmare.
Not much information is provided on the interest from Liam Rosenior's side, but any move would have to be permanent due to Chelsea having already used up their three permitted Strasbourg loans on Mike Penders, Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr.
Strasbourg want Chilwell
In addition to Chilwell, Strasbourg are in talks to sign Brighton attacker Julio Enciso in a move that is heavily driven by owners BlueCo as the Paraguay international has been earmarked as a future player for Chelsea.
The deal had been in doubt recently due to complications with his medical, but it was confirmed on Friday that BlueCo had decided to go through with this €20 million transfer.
If Strasbourg were to sign Chilwell from Chelsea, he would become the third permanent signing made by the Ligue 1 side from the Blues this summer after Mathis Amougou and Ishe Samuels-Smith.
The aforementioned Sarr, meanwhile, went the other way before returning to Strasbourg for the season. Chelsea are also expected to sign striker Emanuel Emegha from their affiliate next summer, with the Dutchman having just been named captain by Rosenior.
