Arsenal in talks with West Ham as Lucas Paqueta BOMB drops
West Ham are interested in Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira amid talks with Aston Villa for Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian midfielder has been attracting significant interest after being fully cleared of his illicit gambling charges. Paqueta, who previously had a move to Man City ruined by these legal proceedings, was on the radar of Tottenham before they ultimately opted to sign Xavi Simons.
Now, Aston Villa are said to be looking to strike a deal with West Ham for the 28-year-old. According to Ben Jacobs, the Birmingham club are aiming to sign him on an initial loan, while the Hammers don't really want to sell and have slapped a €70 million price tag on his head.
Paqueta is not actively pushing for the move, but West Ham would reluctantly entertain offers if their valuation is met. The optics of this would, of course, be disastrous given the East London club's dire start to the campaign.
Selling a key player like Paqueta would not go down well with supporters, but it seems to be a real possibility as West Ham are already looking at replacements.
West Ham want Vieira
According to Sky Germany, the Hammers have barged into the race for Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira, who is expected to leave the Emirates before the deadline after his loan at Porto last season.
Vieira had been in talks over a move to Bundesliga side Stuttgart, but the Portugal international was ultimately deemed too expensive. It remains to be seen if the €90m sale of Nick Woltemade to Newcastle brings the Swabians back to the negotiating table.
Florian Plettenberg states that Vieira has also received interest from another Bundesliga outfit. He recently revealed that Bayern have him on a long list of potential targets, but now simply describes his new suitors as a Champions League club, which could also mean Frankfurt or Dortmund.
Vieira will be one to watch in the final couple of days of the window, and his future could seemingly also determine that of Paqueta.
