Man Utd CONFIRM Garnacho, Sancho and Antony transfers
Manchester United have omitted Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony from their pre-season tour of the US, all but confirming that these players will be offloaded this summer.
The Red Devils' summer has so far not panned out quite as expected. Heading into Ruben Amorim's first pre-season in charge of the club, Man Utd wanted to get their business done early and to be more conservative with their spending.
However, so far, Man Utd have only managed to bring in two marquee signings, splashing around €150 million on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Both were key targets heading into the summer, and Man Utd are delighted to have managed to secure them. Signing Premier League-proven players has its price, and the Old Trafford club accept that they may have paid over the odds for Mbeumo, but this is a risk they were willing to take.
However, it now means that Man Utd don't have the budget to pursue a top-class No.9 unless they raise significant funds via sales. Fortunately, there is no shortage of unwanted players on the books.
Man Utd omit 'Bomb Squad'
With Marcus Rashford's loan to Barcelona expected to be announced imminently, the most high-profile members of the club's 'Bomb Squad' will be Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.
And Ruben Amorim has now all but confirmed that these four have no future under him at Man Utd by omitting them from the club's pre-season tour of the United States.
Man Utd have taken 32 players on their trip, but there is no place for Garnacho, Sancho, Antony or Malacia. Injured goalkeeper Andre Onana, meanwhile, has made the cut and will travel with the team.
On Monday, it was reported that Man Utd have been forced to lower their initial demands for the likes of Garnacho, Sancho and Antony due to a lack of movement for them, but all of them are still fully expected to leave the club this summer.
