The Argentina international has been linked with a Santiago Bernabeu switch for several months and he is now willing to join the club after being “enticed” by Xabi Alonso’s project.

That is according to a sensational report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim that Fernandez has said “yes” to a summer move to Los Blancos.

Real Madrid are reportedly working on a €150 million bid for the 24-year-old and they are willing to sell Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga and Fran Garcia in order to fund a move.

Fernandez is described as “the obsession” of Alonso, with the Real Madrid boss eager to land the Chelsea star ahead of the 2025-26 campaign as he targets a midfield overhaul at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The River Plate academy graduate is seen as the perfect player to complement Aurelien Tchouameni at the base of midfield, which would reportedly allow greater attacker freedom to Jude Bellingham or Arda Guler in a more advanced role.

Why Enzo Fernandez won’t leave Chelsea

Although Fichajes claim that Fernandez is open to leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid, a move is extremely unlikely to happen.

Firstly, the Argentina superstar still has a whopping seven years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge and given he is a crucial player for Maresca, Chelsea will resist a sale if possible.

Furthermore, Chelsea have just won the Club World Cup and will be known as the reigning world champions for the next four years.

Fernandez joined Chelsea when they were languishing down in mid-table and the Blues were mediocre at best during his first 18 months in west London. But, they have now found their groove under Maresca and he evidently loves the club.

After an underwhelming start to life at Chelsea, it’s unlikely that he would choose to leave this summer when the project is starting to come to fruition.
